Teacher Appreciation Week: Day 1

As most of you know, this week (May 5th-9th) is Teacher Appreciation Week. Now I know I sound partial when I say my son has an AMAZING teacher. Yet, it's true. His teacher is also a male which presented a small challenge for teacher gifting. All the pretty bottles of lotion or flower bouquets just weren't going to cut it. This guy spends seven hours a day, five days a week trapped in a room with 20 kindergartners. He freaking rocks! As the designated Homeroom Mom I knew it was up to me to get creative. I browsed Pinterest of course and got a lot of inspiration but never found exactly what I wanted. Armed with what I had seen I went to work creating my own cheesy phrases with the wording I needed to accompany a different gift for each day of the week. At the start of the school year I received a small list of his favorite things. While short and not incredibly detailed it was enough to pull it together for a week of gift giving.

One of the items on his list was favorite drink: Dr. Pepper. I have absolutely no graphic design skills. I don't even own Microsoft Word. I created everything using the freeware Open Office software. I Googled 'school border clip art' to find the crayon border and simply copy and pasted to my project. Then just added a text box. Printed out that label. Grabbed a six pack of Dr. Pepper because the glass bottles are prettier for gifting. Plugged in the hot glue gun. Made a small cut on each side of the label to put the ribbon through. Then just glued it on. Easy peasy, nice and easy.
